Seven Things You Don’t Know About Gernelle Nelson

What’s your favorite thing about being married?

Oh sure, start with the tough question, hahah. I can’t pick just one. I love that my husband is once of my best friends. I love knowing that I can be myself and he’s not going to walk out on me. I love that we support each other’s dreams. These days we are pretty busy pursing our goals but once a week, we have a date night. Once Brandon (that’s his name :) ) gets home, the phones are put away and we spend the next could of hours doing something together. Sometimes that means getting dressed up for a night on the town. Other times, we just snuggle up on the couch and watch library DVDs. Married life is wonderful, complicated and challenging in the best way. I wouldn’t trade mine for anything.

Favorite Holiday? Season?

I love the holiday season from November 1st until January 1st. The weather gets cooler and I get to wear my favorite cozy boots and sweaters. It may seem lame but I keep Christmas music playing on repeat and splurge on romantic holiday movies whenever I get a chance. My family is spread out around the country but I know I’m going to see everyone at least a few times during this time of the year. Taking photos is always fun at this time of year. Twinkle lights, colorful leaves and happy faces aren’t hard to find.

The holiday season at the end of the year is my favorite!! The weather, the music, family time, what's not to love!

If we went out to eat together, what would you order?

Something spicy, tea with fruit jelly inside, and probably some kind of chocolate ice cream. I’ve slowly been eating less and less meat and over time, my desire to eat it has started to go down. But I admit, I’ve got a weakness for hot wings! I may never be strong enough to go vegan but the goal is to eat plant foods 90% of the time.

Have you ever been out of the country?

Not yet but I’ve got a little list of places I’d love to go to! I’m slowly but surely learning Spanish and Japanese so I can spend extended time in countries where these languages are common. Once I get the funds, I’ll be sharing my adventures on my personal blog and Instagram pages. Follow me if you like :)

Who inspires you?

My twin sister is one of the most inspiring people that I know!

I’d definitely have to say my siblings are the most inspiring people that I know. There are five of us all together and each one of us is working towards living life to the fullest. My brothers inspire me to be brave and to put myself out there. My sisters are constantly helping me to be a better person and encouraging me to keep moving forward. Without them in my life, I truly believe that my life would suck, lol.

What do you like to do in your alone time?

I’d have to say my favorite thing to do alone is take long walks with my dog Justice while listening to music on Spotify. It’s one of the few moments when I can clear my mind and focus on breathing, walking, and just being grateful to be alive. You should try it some time!

How are you bringing sexy back?

When I was in high school and college, I was in the best shape of my life. I even had a six pack! Amazingly enough, I’ve been able to maintain my health and body weight pretty well since those days (I’ve gained about 10 pounds since 2005, can you believe that!!) but my six pack is long gone. I want to flatten my stomach a bit, tone up and be able to do the splits again. I want to be strong again and be able to run 1.5 miles without stopping, something I only did once! I don’t have a deadline for these goals yet but I’m confident that I’ll get there once I do. Wish me luck!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit better. I hope you’ll stick around as I progress though entrepreneurship and life. If you’d like to network or hear from me personally, we can always set something up. Just go to my contact page and let me know!
